New EU ErP Regulation (EU) 2023/826 – Eco-design of power consumption for shutdown, standby and networked standby

         On April 18, 2023, the European Commission (EC) published a new version of the eco-design regulation (EU) 2023/826 – Eco-design requirements for the energy consumption of electrical and electronic equipment for domestic and office use in switch-off mode, standby mode and network standby mode. The new regulation came into force on May 9, 2023 and will be mandatory on May 9, 2025, and at the same time repealed the old version of the regulation (EC) No 1275/2008 and the eco-design requirements for simple set-top boxes regulation (EC) No 107/2009.

IScope of application

1.Appliances designed, tested and marketed for home use;

2. Information technology equipment intended primarily for use in the home environment, including cell phones, tablets, speakers (with or without batteries), TWS Bluetooth headsets, headphones with batteries, HUBs, Bluetooth mice, Bluetooth keyboards, and printing devices, but excluding desktop computers, laptops, servers, data storage products, and electronic displays;

3.consumer equipment, including radios, camcorders, video players, audio amplifiers, speakers, home theater systems, media streaming devices, musical instruments, set-top boxes, etc;

4.Toys, leisure and sports equipment, including electric trains, game consoles, sports equipment, other toys and leisure equipment;

5.electric adjustable furniture, including height adjustable desks, elevated beds, chairs (excluding wheelchairs) and other electric furniture;

6.motorized building components, including blinds, screens, pergolas, curtains, doors, windows, skylights and other;

For products sold without power adapters, please submit the manufacturer’s specified or reference power adapters for ERP testing, and the relevant technical information of the tested power adapters will be listed in the ERP report accordingly.
